  • The Adventurers Academy offers a variety of programs to meet the varying needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Continuing education classes emphasize skills Adventurers need for daily living or to succeed in a work environment.
  • Participants have opportunities to learn new skills, develop new interests, and become more involved in their community.
  • Vocational experiences prepare Adventurers for employment or the opportunity to volunteer in the community.

Eligibility

The Adventurers Academy is open to adults (age 18 and over) with an intellectual disability who…
  • Are emotionally healthy,
  • Take care of personal hygiene needs,
  • Cooperate and function in small groups of 6-8 and large groups of over 20,
  • Communicate their needs and respond to directions,
  • Want to be physically and socially active,
  • Desire to become more independent,
  • Are eager to be challenged to continue learning and growing.
Program Tours 
Program Tours are held monthly, usually on the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday, 11:00 AM.

Hours

9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Thursday; Pickup 3:45-4:00 PM
9:00 AM - 3:30 PM Friday; Pickup 3:30-3:45 PM
Participants bring their own lunch.

Cost

  • Full Cost: $65 per day
  • Most applicants qualify for a scholarshiped rate of $45 per day.
  • Additional scholarships may be available.
  • Weekly activity fees (usually a maximum of $25) to cover activity costs & transportation. We strive to keep this fee to a minimum.
  • For Adventurers who are eligible for some Medicaid waiver funds, we will bill their provider for the daily fee at their regular rate.
The Adventurers Academy is a tobacco and alcohol-free program.
To assure all Adventurers a safe, fun, and worthwhile experience, the Academy maintains a no-tolerance policy for aggressive or disruptive behavior.
